A short interactive DVD game. Today is Jess's Birthday! Can you find her a suitable gift? Just don't get distracted and forget about Jess. DVDs can't be cursed... right? Yeah it's fine.

Its charming
What if the amazing digital circus was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good
really has alot of heart and soul, maybe more an art project than a video game but that's definitely a compliment. if you've ever seen ben wheele's work on youtube and liked it this game is for you.
Hello Facehead!
I've always been a superfan of Ben Wheele's animations, I actually plan to get the artbook "Gloomy Amazing" sometime on top of this. Buitopia is exactly in line with his works, even making reference to some of his earliest animations (Hello, Facehead!), and also stands out as a modern re-interpretation of a "Choose Your Own Adventure" game, meaning this game is also Ergodic Literature. So I guess if you like pretending that you've read House of Leaves, then this is for you!
The long awaited return of Ben Wheele. No one on planet Earth can make a piece of media like Ben Wheele does. No one can make something as absurd and as insane as he can, and this game is proof of that. Blending so many art styles together along with his absolutely perfect mix of humor and horror. There wasn't a single boring moment in this game. Whether it be some stupid joke that had me on the floor or an interesting puzzle to keep me on my toes. Ben, please keep making new stuff, whether it be games or videos. The world needs a little more absurd surrealism.
Very creative and fun!
As a kid, I always thought the Disney Scene-It DVD game would haunt me forever. Imagine my horror when I played this.
huge fan of ben wheele and this did not disappoint in the slightest regardless of how long I may have to spend trying to find ben's special performance
it's incredible you've just got to try it
As a fan of Ben's stuff I already knew the charm of this game would be amazing. It balances humor, story and simple puzzles all at once. There's enough to experience in this game that makes it well enough worth the small price. I'm only writing this review when I believe I've found the 'true' ending. But I definitely haven't experienced 100% yet. For new players I think you should totally wait on the bench first.
Having grown up playing DVD menu games and finding Easter eggs on DVD menus, Buitopia feels very nostalgic for me. It really nailed the tone of (and I mean this fondly) "I am 10 years old and have nothing better to do than to press buttons on my DVD remote." For that exact reason this game will not be for everyone. Which is unfortunate! They'll be missing out. The art style is charming. The gameplay is exactly what you would expect from an Easter egg-style DVD game of old. The music is pleasant. Overall, Buitopia is a good first-time dev's crack at their first game. I do hope that Ben Wheele will make more games, since I think that this game is a very solid foundation from which to build off of. My one minor gripe: there does not appear to be an in-game indicator that you need to press 'M' on keyboard to bring up the options menu. I have to play games with captions, and so to me it initially seemed that there simply wasn't captioning in the game. I appreciate the dev telling me how to turn on captions. Aside from that: solid game!
