MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

The makings of a great game are here, sadly I have come to the conclusion that the developers are unwilling or unable to really make it shine. The basic gameplay loop shows promise, go into action with giant robots, complete objectives, get money and better weapons, repeat. The game lacks polish, both graphically for something within the last decade and in environment effects. A minor issue is with companion AI that seems to show no sense of self preservation nor ability to change their behavior to suit a particular mech's abilities, so you will have to babysit them using the simplified commands (follow, go to location, attack target). The rest of the game is a bit barebones and could have used some more depth and features, especially once you get late game. The real issues with this game come after the clan invasion (needs Shadows of Kersnky DLC ) at which point any sense of balance goes out the window with the new mechs and enemies making it quite clear that they are formidable foes, but from this point on the enemies move so fast, hit so hard and accurately, and can take such excessive damage, that it feels like you have to know the future and makes all the mechs and equipment you have collected to this point second rate trash like you are trying to take down tanks with a bow and arrow. I can appreciate such a difficulty spike to a degree and sells them as the formidable foes they, but the problem is how quickly and out of nowhere it comes from and you have no obvious ways to deal with it except salvaging what you can, building up your arsenal with the newer stuff, selling broken stuff to avoid going bankrupt, and making excessive use of the save, load, and restart mission button while you search around for missions that are reasonable to complete. Perhaps this could have been mitigated by new mission types built around the clan enemies, but the problem is the game still spawns the same mission types as pre-clan invasion, which just do not mesh properly with the new enemies. It is really exacerbated by the fact that the game punishes you for completing objectives by seeming randomly dropping enemy reinforcements right on top of you, even after a somewhat flawless mission while you are running to evac, again manageable pre-clan invasion, but effectively a mission failure or squad mate death(s) for no reason. I still need to try out some mod packages, and it is possible some of those will make it great or address some of these issues, but in my opinions mods should only be taken as an excuses when they make a good game great. As it stands, this is a mediocre game that had the potential to be great. I do not see myself putting down, but I strongly advise anyone reading this to save your money and let this company go out of business.

２年ぶりに復帰したが、ライセンス画面でなんかとんでもないエラー吐いてまったく遊べない。確認したら２か月前からあるバグらしい。対策が２つあり、１つ目はsteamのライブラリにあるこのゲームのページにある歯車マークからプロパティ、一般の下にある起動オプションに-NoChromaって書く。ただし、起動はできるがアプリを終了したらなんかエラー吐くからなんかきもちわるい。２つ目はちょっとめんどいが、MW5Mercs/MW5mercs/Binaries/Win64 にある "MSVCP140.dll"を削除。これは結構完璧な気がする。なーんかRAZERのキーボードのアプリと干渉してるっぽいんだよね。遊ぶまで結構めんどくさいし、さっさと修正してほしいから低評価にしたがプレイ時間を見てもらえればわかる通り、ゲームはおもろいよ。
