This game has the potential to be one of the great roguelike bullet hell's if the devs take their time with continuing to balance it. Gameplay is snappy and often very difficult. Almost feels like a modern take on those old helicopter upgrade shooters. Pathogenic's double edged sword is the build diversity. The abundance of combos means runs feel fresh and full of potential, though in return you will encounter a decent amount of combos that haven't been tested extensively (especially on low-spec systems) which means you might build into a frame rate nightmare or a combo that functions incorrectly. Some enemy types and room hazards feel unreadable or luck based which hopefully changes with future updates.

100%'ing this was an ordeal. good times, though. Reading the negative reviews is hilarious. They don't know what they're talking about, or they didn't give it long enough, or they just sucked. Yeah balance is absolutely all over the place, especially with the nanobot and amoeba, but finding a totally broken build is incredibly fun.
I really enjoy it. It some how manages to make you feel over-powered and still lose to a boss without feeling cheated. You can play with many different play styles and I've enjoy every type I've tried. It has great replay ability. It is easy enough for anyone to get into it while allowing people to go into depth on their builds. A large part of the reason I enjoy this game so much is because it feels so polished, it never feels like I'm doing something pointless just to get to the part of the game I like which is so common in other games.

Just another RNG shooter. Play again and again and again and again and again, and 1,000 hours later, you have unlocked all the upgrades but you'll never get those 1,000 hours back. So, epic fail. In all seriousness, this game is so dull after the first hour or two. Everything is random, there is no skill involved. Either you get good upgrades or you get bad upgrades, and your game ends if they are bad. How folks can like this obvious cash grab with no strategic thought is beyond me. Just tried it again - you are entirely controlled by the RNG. It is like Vegas. This game's respect of your time is 0%. Played it again - hate myself even more for wasting time on a pointless, garbage pile of rubber butt cheese.
